Reflecting on 2024 and Looking Ahead to an Exciting 2025!

Dear Aravanai Community, As we approach the end of another impactful year, we want to take a moment to reflect on everything we've accomplished together in 2024 and share our vision for an even brighter 2025. Your continued support has been instrumental in driving meaningful change for the youth and communities of North and East Sri Lanka. Thank you for being a vital part of our journey. 2024: A Year of Milestones 1. Flood Relief for Mullaitivu and Kilinochchi: In the wake of devastating floods, Aravanai stepped up to provide essential food packs to 140 families, reminding them that they are not alone. This was more than aid; it was a testament to the power of community and hope. 2. Expanding Uki Coding School: With centers already thriving in Jaffna, Kilinochchi, and Vavuniya, Uki continued to empower over 800 students this year, with an impressive 40% female participation. Many graduates have gone on to secure internships and even launch startups, showcasing the life-changing impact of this program. 3. Fundraising Success - Curated 2024: We successfully hosted our annual networking gala in Toronto, raising $32,000 toward our $60,000 goal to expand our initiatives including our goal of bringing Uki to Batticaloa. Thank you to everyone who supported this event. You are driving real change in Sri Lanka. 4. Yarl IT Hub Innovation Festival: We supported our on-the-ground partner, Yarl IT Hub, in hosting their Innovation Festival in Jaffna, bringing together thousands of youth, entrepreneurs, and professionals to spark creativity, innovation, and collaboration. 5. Capacity-building Partnerships: We forged deeper connections with organizations like CTPA and Dream Space Academy to extend our reach and amplify our efforts in empowering communities through education, entrepreneurship, and employment opportunities. 6. Uniforms for Students at an Underserved School: We provided new uniforms to 53 students at an underserved school, helping them feel confident and ready to learn. This small act removed barriers to education and boosted their self-esteem, showing how community support can make a meaningful difference in their future. 7. Partnership with Noolaham: We signed an MoU to assist Noolaham in migrating their data to the cloud, helping preserve valuable Tamil documents for future generations. Noolaham, a not-for-profit organization, employs 98% women. This partnership is a step forward in safeguarding important resources while supporting a dedicated team of women driving this mission. Looking Ahead to 2025 As we step into the new year, we're thrilled to announce new initiatives that will take our mission to the next level: 1. Uki Coding School Expansion to Batticaloa: We're excited to partner with Dream Space Academy as the operational lead to establish a coding school in Batticaloa. This expansion will provide transformative opportunities for youth in the Eastern Province, continuing our mission to empower underserved communities. 2. Youth Hackathon with CTPA and CFLI: In collaboration with CTPA and CFLI, we're organizing a Hackathon for Youth in 2025. This event will equip young minds with critical problem-solving skills, foster innovation, and ignite a passion for technology and entrepreneurship. 3. Deepening Community Engagement: We're committed to strengthening our ties with the global Tamil diaspora and growing our local partnerships to ensure sustainable impact and long-term success for the communities we serve.
